The New Student Orientation Page is here to provide you with information regarding our orientations, programs, and support systems specifically for our new students and returning students We also host programs that benefit all BC students, and we welcome you to attend.

New News

Our New Student Orientation Program is excited to announce that we have changed our process for New Student Orientation completion. We are happy to introduce New Student Orientation and Programs to our BC students. Beginning April 3, 2023, our orientation process will now consist of one part, only, utilizing the Comevo New Student Orientation Module at://www.d-onis.com/onlineorientation.

Students who previously completedPart Aof our orientation process will have holds released beginning with our Spring 2023 students and then moving to a tiered process of removing holds from previous years until Summer 2022.Students will be able to register for classes without holds being placed on their registration accounts. Part B is no longer a requirement for completion of New Student Orientation.

Students who fail to complete the NSO Comevo session will have immediate holds placed on their accounts for incompletion of New Student Orientation. Holds placed on student accounts will be reviewed and removed bi-monthly, on Fridays, based upon our BC academic school calendar.

Our office will communicate through yourBrazosport College email address. It is important to check your emails frequently to stay up to date with everything BC has to offer. Again, please contact the Office of Student Life with questions regarding holds and the registration process.

We hope that this new process will support your journey as a BC student and encourage you to complete your NSO in a timely manner! Why New Student Orientation?

Participating and completing New Student Orientation is an expectation and requirement for all new to BC students and for students who have never taken a college course before, and for those new undergraduate students participating in certification programs.

Research shows that students who attend New Student Orientation are more successful, earn higher grades, and more likely to complete their career and academic goals! We want all BC students to become and remain successful, so, join us to start your new journey to success!

New Student Orientation, at Brazosport College, is the onboarding and induction process of becoming a BC Gator! Through New Student Orientation, you will:

  • Learn about the many support services and resources available to help you be a successful student.
  • Connect with college staff members, faculty members, current students, and new students just like you!
  • Navigate the physical campus of Brazosport College.

Costs of NSO

New Student Orientation is free and completed using an online module format of Comevo. Although our BC New Student Orientation is free to all new students, it could cost you, if it not completed. By that we mean that you must complete ouronlineorientationoffering as soon as possible to keep holds from being placed on your registration account. This could cost you valuable time and cause you to miss out on registering for the classes that you may need to complete your degree plan at Brazosport College.

New Student Orientation Comevo Online Module

You must be an admitted BC student to register for New Student Orientation.Next step of New Student Orientationis therequiredcompletion of a module titled “New Gator Online Orientation,” using theComevo Online Modulemanagement system. Failure to do so may cause holds to be placed on your account. Please be prepared to print your final certificate of completion for your records.

This online module includes 16+ sections and has quizzes after each section. Once all sections are complete, you will take a final test. You must answer 70% of questions correctly to pass the final test and earn credit for the online orientation module. If you do not pass, you will be able to take the test again until it is passed. The entire online orientation module will take you about 1.5 hours, uninterrupted, to complete. This is an individually paced online course where you learn about Brazosport College and many of its support systems. At the very end, please print your completion certificate or take a picture of your certificate for your records.

We also ask that you complete the survey at the very end to provide feedback to our department. We want to meet your college needs and ensure that you enjoy your BC experience!

Steps to Success: Completing Your New Student Orientation

Step 1: Complete Your Registration and Enrollment Process

Upon completion of applications, financial aid, transcripts, vaccinations, placement tests, meeting with advisors, and paying tuition/scholarships, it is time to attend orientation. Remember, our BC Orientation is required for all new students who have never taken a college course before.

Step 2: Completing BC Orientation (Online Comevo Module)

Comevo Online Module

The New Student Orientation for Brazosport College is the mandatory completion of a module titled “New Gator Online Orientation,” using theComevo Online Modulemanagement system. You must pass the quizzes with 70% or higher on the final quiz and take the survey at the very end, Failure to complete the online modules may cause holds to be placed on your account.

This online module includes 16+ sections and has quizzes after each section. Once all sections are complete, you will take a final test. There is no longer a two-part orientation, and this course will serve as the only opportunity for students to receive NSO credit.

For you to receive credit for the online module, you must sign into the system using your BC student ID number, correctly, each time. We suggest that you write your credentials in a safe place and refer to them when needed.Do not enter the orientation as a guest, as the system will not track your progress and you will not receive credit for completion. This will also cause you to have multiple accounts. We will use the tracking and timing system provided in Comevo to issue credit and remove possible holds that may be on your account. Please feel free to contact our office upon completion, and we can verify completion with-in our data base.

You may complete the online New Gator Online Orientation module, by Comevo, atwww.www.d-onis.com/onlineorientation. Please use the correct credentials at each log-in. Failure to do so could cause you NOT to receive proper credit. Again, we advise that students take a picture of their log-in credentials or write them in a secure location when first logging in to use later, if needed.

We also ask that you complete the survey at the very end to provide feedback to our department. We want to meet your college needs and ensure that you enjoy your BC experience!

*Remember, the Comevo moduledoes not have a substituteand is required as your BC Orientation and your official enrollment as a new student. Registration holds will be placed on student registration accounts for not completing the Comevo Online Orientation module.

Part B is no longer a requirement for completion of New Student Orientation. We hope that you will support our additional programs to support your journey as a BC student.

Step 3: New Student Program Success Menu

Upon successful completion of the Comevo Online Module, you will be directed to an opportunity to learn more about Brazosport College and enhance your experience at BC. Hopefully these opportunities will inspire your Gator Pride and set you up for success at BC! Programs will be offered throughout the school year and available for students and family members of BC students.

You can choose to attend 1, 2, 3, or all of our program menu items as they are scheduled throughout the year! Programs will be scheduled monthly and feature student topics, BC programs and departments, game nights, family involvement, and much more!

Any individual requiring an accommodation to participate in any of our events should contact Orientation and New Student Programs and make note during the registration process. We are happy to assist you!

These programs will be offered at various times and various places throughout the BC campus.

We will host our next event duringOne Stop July 25-27, 2023, and August 22-24, 2023, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.We will be in the Dow Academic Center (DAC). Join us to get BC swag, have your questions answered about New Student Orientation and Programs, find BC support systems, and grab a bite of lunch! We will also host aWelcome Back Silent Disco Party and Chill Zone will be heldon Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Gator Hall and The Swamp. Come Light Up your new 2023-2024 school year or chill in the Chill Zone! We will have food, door prizes, and great music!

Brazosport College Campus Walking Tour

The Office of Student Life is also happy to offer an opportunity to current admitted and future BC Gators to meet with faculty, staff, and students from our department. We would be excited to take you and your family members on a campus tour to learn more about Brazosport College, our facilities, student life, culture, academics, and the programs that we have to offer.

Campus Walking Tours will last approximately 30-45 minutes and held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. These tours may be held with multiple individuals due to scheduling and staff availability. We will do our best to personalize your tour.
